Join Us
Please join us in one of St. Augustine's many opportunities to become involved, both within the church and out in the community.
Acolytes
Acolytes are church youth who assist the priest in worship. They also light candles and carry the cross in the procession at the beginning of the service and the recession following the service. For more information or to volunteer, write to rector@augies.indydio.org.

Altar Guild
Altar Guild members set up the altar for every communion. They also care for the linens and priest's vestments. Twice a year the Altar Guild has a church cleaning day. For more information about the  Altar Guild, please write to altarguild@augies.indydio.org.

Bible Study
The Bible Study group meets the first and third Sundays of the month, between services, in the Apple House. Currently they are studying the Gospel of Matthew. The group will take a break in the summer and starts again in September with a new study.

Coffee Hour Host
Coffee Hour Hosts bring light refreshments, such as donuts, muffins, bagels, juice, and milk to serve after the 10 a.m. service. The coffee is provided, and the hosts clean up afterward. The sign-up sheet to be a Coffee Hour host is downstairs in the church basement.

Habitat for Humanity
Each summer parishioners spend a Saturday helping to build a house in our area. The work is hard but rewarding, and a great lunch is provided by the Martha Circle. More information about this event will be announced in May.

Hospital Care Basket
Our church brings snacks for those who need to spend time in the Hendricks Regional Health ICU waiting room. Volunteers sign up to purchase and deliver a month's worth of snacks to the waiting room. The sign-up sheet for this outreach program is downstairs in the church.

Lay  Reader
Lay readers are parishioners who read passages from the Old and New Testaments at all services, and they also recite prayers for the people. Lay readers also assist during communion with the chalice. For more information or to volunteer, write to rector@augies.indydio.org.

Martha Circle
The Martha Circle is an Episcopal Women's group that works to raise funds for a variety of church and local charitable needs. The group holds a rummage/book sale in the spring, and a cheeseball fundraiser in the late fall. The Martha Circle also provides and serves food after funeral services. The group meets in the church basement the fourth Sunday of the month, between services, for fellowship and event planning. All women are invited to be members of the Martha Circle. For more information, please write to postmaster@augies.indydio.org.

Prayer Chain
This program is for those who wish to pray for others in a time of need. Members receive news of prayer requests, then call others to inform them of the request. Prayers are then said for the person in need. For more information about the Prayer Chain or to become a member, please write to postmaster@augies.indydio.org.

Prayer Partner
Prayer Partners sign up in January to be matched with a person for whom they will secretly pray throughout the year. Prayer Partners may also give cards or gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, or holidays. Partners are matched the first week of February by random drawing and reveal themselves on Epiphany Sunday the following year. For more information about this program, write to postmaster@augies.indydio.org.

Sunday School Teacher
St. Augustine's has five Sunday School classes for children ages 3 and up. Sunday School teachers sign up to teach the class of their choice approximately once a month (there are four Sunday School teachers per class). Materials following the Episcopal liturgical calendar are provided for each class. There are also opportunities to teach in the summer, when there is one class for all ages. Volunteers sign up to teach one Sunday and materials are provided. For more information, write to christianed@augies.indydio.org.

Vestry
The vestry is a the association of parishioners who help make decisions regarding church business. Vestry members are nominated by our parishioners and elected to serve three-year terms. For more information, write to vestry@augies.indydio.org.

Youth Group
Our youth group is open to children in 5th grade and older. Parents of youth group members volunteer to organize and supervise an activity once a month during the school year. Activities include bowling, swimming, game nights, a Halloween cookout, and a lock-in. Kids are encouraged to bring a friend or two. For more information about this group, write to youthgroup@augies.indydio.org.
